Product Description
An AR Tetradrachm minted under the rule of Tigranes the Second, King of Armenia from 95-56 BC graded About Uncirculated (Strike: 4/5, Surface: 3/5) with an annotation for scratches by NGC. This piece displays a excellent centered strike on the obverse and slightly off center strike on the reverse. The bust of Tigranes II has excellent visible details and two scratches appear right below his chin. These scratches do not affect any details on the coin. The reverse displays the diety Tyche of Antioch, goddess of fortune with the river Orontes below. Bold legends can still be read visibly behind Tyche, with a slightly weaker strike of the legends in front of Tyche, however still readable. A beautiful dark metallic blue tone appears on the reverse which has taken over two millennia to patina. An outstanding specimen of a rare piece.
