(1) 1935 A $1 Experimental (R) Silver Certificate Fr#1609 (SC Block) with signatures Julian/Morgenthau and serial # S71301135C and (1) 1935 A $1 Experimental (S) Silver Certificate Fr#1610 (SC Block) with signatures Julian/Morgenthau and serial # S74144107C both graded Extremely Fine 40 by PMG. These notes display no major visible folds, nice color (only slight discoloration overall) and nice even margins. Please view our photos for additional information.
Silver certificates were a form of paper currency produced from 1878 - 1964 and were issued as a type of representative money. Initially made in response to the Fourth Coinage Act which placed the United States under the gold standard, the bills were meant to be redeemed for their face value in silver coin and later from June 1967 - June 1968 in raw silver bullion.
