A Victorian Era Wade & Butcher Sheffield, England 5/8 in. straight razor with it's original George Wostenholm & Son Limited distributor black lacquered box. The blade features a bright steel finish with "The Hollow Ground Razor" etched into the blade's face, "Wade & Butcher/Sheffield, England" stamped on the tang and a black celluloid handle with brass pivot and wedge pins. The blade on this straight razor is exceptionally sharp and cuts with ease. The etching on the blade's face is worn, indicative of wear and possible re-honing in the past. The stamp on the tang is sharp and readable. The entire blade is rust free with no pitting however there are some contact marks and hairlines. The pivot pin is tight and moves the blade well. The black celluloid handle is well preserved and shows minimal signs of wear. The black lacquered box is embossed "George Wostenholm & Son Limited/Sheffield England" and is in excellent shape for it's age, fully intact with no major damage.
