Quick Overview

An early 1900's M.L. Brandt Cutlery Company Germany & New York 5/8 in. straight razor with an unmarked embossed coffin box. The blade features an original grey steel patina with a beautiful gasoline colored tone and "The M.L. Brandt/Cutlery Company/Germany & New York" & "100 BRANDT" stamped on the tang and a black Bakelite handle. The blade on this razor is still relatively sharp and can cut through paper with ease. The pivot pin moves the blade nicely without a hassle. The stamps on the tang are readable, however wear is present in certain areas. Almost the entire blade is free of rust/pitting with the exception of a small portion on the underside of the tang. The wedge pin also shows some green corrosion that can be cleaned off. The handle shows some signs of wear in the form of surface hairlines and needs some cleaning, however there are no cracks present. The coffin box this piece comes with shows no brand name markings. This box also show heavy signs of wear including scuffs, loss of the original black finish, and a small piece has broken off from the top bit. Someone has also taped the top portion. The M.L. Brandt Cutlery Company was in business from 1911-1916. Please view our photos for additional information and ask any questions prior to purchase.
